[Doctor bandaging foot]

It's another FIRST! Integrated Health Services of Amarillo announces the opening of the only Curative Wound Care Center© in the West Texas Region. In fact, there are only 100 centers like it in the whole United States, the closest located in Dallas.

The Wound Care Center© of West Texas was created for a single purpose:

THE TREATMENT OF NON-HEALING WOUNDS.

Chronic wounds, such as those caused by diabetes, poor circulation, surgical incision and pressure sores that have failed to heal, may now be treated by a comprehensive team of wound care specialists.

The wound Care Center© of West Texas is a comprehensive outpatient wound management program that offers extensive treatment protocols and a variety of therapies. Our programs include skilled physicians, nurses and technicians, trained specifically in the care and treatment of non-healing wounds. Every patient is given the assistance needed to participate in their own care with a program tailored to meet individual needs. We also provide the patients own personal physician with information during the course of treatment.

When the patient first arrives, a complete evaluation is performed which may include non-invasive vascular studies. Actual treatment may involve one or more of the following as medically indicated:

  • Debridement
  • Revascularization
  • Skin grafting
  • Infection control
  • Growth factor therapy
  • Compression therapy
Patients most frequently present with one of these types of ulcers:

  • Diabetic
  • Ischemic
  • Pressure
  • Venous stasis
  • Collagen vascular disease
  • Other wounds that resist healing
