The program is under the direction of a board-certified physiatrist.
Subacute Care is a level of care requiring an intensive plan for recovery - a cost effective alternative for patients too sick and technology dependent to be cared for at home, but not ill enough to require all the services and technology of an acute hospital.
The Specialty Programs included in Subacute Care include:
- Cardiopulmonary Program - dedicated to the care of patients with pulmonary, cardiac and metabolic disorders. The Ventilator Weaning Program is under the direction of board-certified Pulmonologists.
- Complex Care/Wound Management Program - dedicated to the care of patients with surgical, pressure, vascular and traumatic wounds. The nursing staff coordinate this program with Physical Therapy and Certified Enterostomal Therapy Nurses. Directed by a physician specializing in Internal Medicine.
- Intermediate Care - dedicated to the care of patients requiring physical, occupational, cognitive and speech therapy. Usual diagnostic groups are orthopedic injury or surgery, stroke, or other debilitating illnesses. Under the direction of an Internal Medicine Physician.
