Texas A&M University system Agricultural Research and Extension Center - Amarillo
[Picture of Facility] [Texas A&M Seal]Established in 1977, the Amarillo Center is the regional home of TAMU System agencies and personnel of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station and the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. Their chief mission is to develop and translate new technology to area producers benefitting the agricultural enterprise throughout the Texas Panhandle.

There are agricultural programs in:

  • Integrated Dryland and Irrigated Crop Production Systems
  • Precision Agriculture
  • Wheat Genetics and Breeding
  • Integrated Pest Management
  • Irrigation Water Management
  • Insect and Disease Control
  • Conservation Tillage and Residue Management
  • Beef Cattle Nutrition and Health
  • Livestock Waste Management

The Texas Agricultural Experiment Station has three research farms at Bushland and Etter.

The Center is district administrative headquarters of the Extension Service network of agents in 21 countries, who deliver science-based information, training and education programs assisting urban and rural residents to improve their quality of life, namely 4-H and youth development, improvements in agricultural resources and environmental human nutrition and rural health, and community enrichment.
